Job Description

Cemza is seeking a Machine Attendant to join our team at the Port Elizabeth Plant. This role is responsible for maintaining acceptable efficiency standards of plant machinery and equipment through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The successful candidate will work closely with the maintenance and engineering teams to minimise downtime, assist with machine upgrades, and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.

Duties & Responsibilties
  • Maintain all mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • Adhere to and maintain a planned maintenance system.

  • Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise production downtime.

  • Control and monitor the use of spare parts.

  • Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

  • Assist with machine upgrades, alterations, and projects.

  • Repair pneumatic cylinders, valves, and perform basic installations.

  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.

  • Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

  • Perform additional duties in the interest of Cemza when required.

Minimum Requirements
  • N3 Mechanical or Matric with Maths and Science.

  • Trade Test Certificate (Fitter or Electrician).

  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a production environment.

  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment and pneumatics.

Bonus Points
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Advanced practical knowledge of machinery processes and safety.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Package & Renumeration
  • Salary range: R10,000 – R15,000 CTC per month.
