Job Description

Cemza Coastal is seeking an experienced Boilermaker to join our team in Cape Town. This role is responsible for performing essential maintenance, fabrication, and welding tasks on key plant equipment including silos, screw conveyors, and bulk tankers.

The successful candidate will conduct inspections, identify potential failures, and ensure all equipment meets safety and durability standards. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work in a demanding industrial environment.

Duties & Responsibilties
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations on silos, screw conveyors, bulk tankers, and structural steel components.
  • Fabricate and assemble plant-related equipment and structures.
  • Execute high-quality welding (MIG, TIG) on various materials including aluminium and mixed metals.
  • Conduct inspections to identify wear, corrosion, and potential failures before they impact production.
  • Maintain equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Support improvement initiatives and implementation of new equipment or processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas.
  • Perform any additional duties in the interest of Cemza as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Boilermaker certification or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong fabrication and welding experience, including aluminium and mixed materials (advantageous).
  • Proficiency in welding, oxy-fuel cutting, and structural design.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience with maintenance of forklifts, conveyors, vibrators, weighbridges, and utility equipment.
Bonus Points
  • Experience in cement, bulk handling, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong safety mindset and ability to enforce safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with warehouse-based operations and equipment.
Package & Renumeration
  • Salary: R20,000 – R40,000 CTC per month (based on experience).
  • Permanent position.
  • Based at Cemza Coastal, Cape Town.
