Job Description

Cemza is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Port Elizabeth Plant on a 3-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining acceptable efficiency standards of plant machinery and yellow equipment through inspections, servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs.

This hands-on role involves working on forklifts, skid steers, and plant vehicles, attending to breakdowns, and assisting with electrical fault finding and machine upgrades. The ideal candidate is proactive, technically skilled, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Duties & Responsibilties
  • Maintain yellow equipment and machinery.
  • Perform servicing, inspections, and repairs on forklifts, including brakes, chains, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct daily inspections on skid steers and report issues.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing on vehicles and machinery.
  • Respond to breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Assist with electrical fault finding, testing, and wiring.
  • Support machine upgrades, alterations, and major overhauls.
  • Report equipment status and hours worked daily.
  • Communicate issues with management to ensure solutions are implemented.
  • Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Perform additional duties in the interest of Cemza as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum N4 Mechanical Engineering qualification.
  • Trade Test Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years’ mechanical experience.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding abilities.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with forklifts, skid steers, and yellow equipment.
  • Electrical fault-finding and testing experience.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Package & Renumeration
  • 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract.
  • Based at Cemza Plant, Port Elizabeth.
  • Salary: Negotiable.
