Lab Tester

Cemza is looking for an analytical and detail-focused Lab Tester to join the Quality Assurance team at our Gqeberha plant. This role involves performing laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and final products to ensure compliance with quality specifications. The successful candidate will also be responsible for accurate data entry, equipment calibration, sample handling, and supporting the plant with process control insights. Adherence to health, safety, and quality systems is essential in this role, which requires strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure.
Perform accurate analysis of raw materials, in-process, and final product samples.
Calibrate and verify lab equipment as per schedules.
Handle storage, tracking, and shipment of test samples.
Record and process test data using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Release or place samples on hold based on analytical results.
Write or revise lab instructions and procedures where required.
Ensure compliance with integrated HSE and quality systems.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the lab area.
Communicate analytical findings to relevant departments for action.
Perform additional duties in support of the QA and production teams as required.
National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (required).
Experience in quality control or laboratory environments.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.
Ability to use sophisticated, computer-driven laboratory instruments.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Experience working in cement, chemicals, or heavy manufacturing sectors.
Familiarity with ISO-based quality systems and audit preparation.
Advanced skills in lab instrumentation or LIMS systems.
Strong reasoning ability and attention to detail under high workloads.
