Assistant Process Manager

Cemza is seeking a technically skilled and analytical Assistant Process Manager to join our Production team at the Port Elizabeth plant. Reporting to the Process Improvement Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting continuous process optimisation within the milling division. This includes implementing improvements, managing risks associated with chemical inputs, analysing operational performance, and reducing material and process waste. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical or manufacturing engineering and a proactive mindset to improve production efficiencies and safety compliance.
Optimise and report on milling processes to improve efficiency and performance.
Analyse, manage, and advise on operational improvements and changes.
Implement continuous improvement plans in line with business and production goals.
Mitigate process risks, particularly involving chemicals and consumables.
Analyse production data and control process variables to ensure stable output.
Investigate and resolve any process deviations or quality issues.
Oversee waste management, chemical usage, and compliance with environmental standards.
Draft and submit monthly reports on performance, material usage, and waste.
Collaborate with mill staff to ensure alignment on improvements and support needs.
Ensure adherence to EH&S standards, integrated quality systems, and legal requirements.
Perform any additional duties in support of the business as instructed.
Minimum: Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
5–8 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing environments.
Proven theoretical and practical understanding of process and production management.
Knowledge of chemical inputs and industrial safety protocols.
Strong communication and analytical problem-solving skills.
Previous experience in the cement or milling industry.
Exposure to ISO and integrated management system compliance.
Advanced data analysis or process control skills.
Strong focus on waste reduction and productivity improvements.
R20,000.00 – R30,000.00 CTC per month (negotiable based on experience).
