Job Description

Cemza is seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Machine Attendant to join the operations team in Gqeberha. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining plant equipment, reducing downtime, and supporting ongoing projects and plant upgrades. The successful candidate will assist with scheduled maintenance, breakdown recovery, and general housekeeping while ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols. A trade test and strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems are essential for this role.

Duties & Responsibilties
  • Maintain all mechanical and electrical plant equipment.

  • Adhere to and contribute to a structured planned maintenance system.

  • Attend to equipment breakdowns efficiently to minimise lost time.

  • Monitor and manage spare parts usage.

  • Perform TPM and support mechanical upgrades and alterations.

  • Conduct basic maintenance and repair of pneumatic valves and cylinders.

  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.

  • Work according to the Integrated (Environmental and Quality) Management System.

  • Perform any additional duties in support of Cemza operations.

  • Comply with EH&S standards and procedures.

Minimum Requirements
  • N3 Mechanical or Matric with Maths and Science.

  • Trade Test Certificate (Fitter or Electrician).

  • 2–4 years’ experience in a production or plant environment.

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems and pneumatics.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced practical knowledge of safety and mechanical processes.

  • Good problem-solving ability and initiative.

Bonus Points
  • Experience working in the cement or heavy manufacturing sector.

  • Exposure to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems.

  • Willingness to learn and assist across departments.

  • Strong record of safety and compliance.

Package & Renumeration
  • Salary range: R10,000 – R15,000 per month (based on experience).
